Below, I will share some of our New Year's inspired activities.
🎊New Year's Eve ✨Gold Slime Ornament
Today, we are making slime. Your general recipe is:
- Elmer's glue
- baking soda (a pinch)
- glitter and sequin
- activator (contact solution)
- heavy duty glass ornament
However, today, we are making glitter gold New Year's Eve slime to fil the ornament, so we are using yellow glitter glue instead of the clear one. (You can still use clear glue, but you will need lots of glitter). Also, since we want our slime to be sparkling, we are omitting the baking soda (which turns the slime cloudy) and we also adding a little water, so that we are able to pour our gold slime into the ornament (use a spout).
These slime ornaments can make a perfect party favor or just a fun decoration ( gold ribbon is optional). Do not add your activator or you won't be able to pour your slime (in or out).
Add contact solution once you are ready to pour your slime out to have some sensory fun! (A note, since we added a little bit of water (a teaspoon), you would need to add more contact solution to activate your slime since it is diluted.) I have a very detailed post about slime and the science behind it here 🎅🏻 Santa ❤️ Red Slime DIY Jar (Science 🔬⚗️⚖️ 101 🎥Series 🎇).
DIY Confetti 🎉 Poppers
Are you ready to ring in the New Year? These DIY confetti poppers are so fun and super easy to make. Use your recycled toilet paper roll and attach a balloon to one side (you might need to cut the ballon as show on the picture above). Cover your TPR with adhesive glitter foam paper and fill with cut pipe cleaners, pom poms, beads and sequin.
And it very easy to make your own confetti by using various punchers: we used a circle and a star puncher. We also used a large pom pom to "close" our popper while not in use to prevent accidental spills! When ready, hold it opening up, and make sure that all your confetti are on the bottom ~ pull the balloon and release! Make sure you pop it in a safe place to minimize the cleanup! Happy New Year!
DIY 🎊New Year's Eve Fireworks 💥
This is a super easy DIY New Year's Eve fireworks craft. What you will need:
- washi tape (buy in a set with a book here ) and a black Sharpie to draw buildings
- recycled toilet paper roll cut (as shown on the picture above)
- glitter
- paint
- foam paper for the background to resemble a night sky
Dip your strip-cut toilet paper in paint and imprint on the paper. You can use various colors paints or we are using just white paint and sprinkle glitter on it while it is still wet, giving it a shimmering look.
Happy 🎊New Year! Wishing you love and light, and many happily creative moments with your little ones, learning through constructive play and growing together, side by side, cherishing these moments forever!
