Halloween Witches Marbled Sensory Shaving Cream Tray
10/27/2018
Today, we are setting up messy not-so-messy Halloween sensory baking tray. This invitation to explore will take you less than five minutes to set up and will cost only a few dollars.
I will explain modifications for different ages, so keep reading!
Spray shaving cream onto a tray (you can use a baking tray or this disposable pan) and offer your child to spread the shaving cream around and flatten using a squeegee or a credit card.
Sprinkle food coloring or use washable finger paint (I run out of orange food coloring). Offer your child to run the fork through it, creating a ridged surface. (Decide whether you want to go horizontally or vertically and stay consistent!) Add glitter.
Then, using a paintbrush's pointy side (or any other pointy tool) start dragging the paint in a circular motion creating a marbled look. Experiment by making circles bigger or smaller and stay consistent until you finish the entire row.

We then added Witches hat erasers from a Dollar store and some googly eyes. For children who are passed the mouthing stage, offer this sensory tray as is and let them explore the textures and objects. Shaving foam feels totally awesome and it triggers soo many sensorial stimuli!
For smaller children, who still might put hands in their mouth, cover the tray with a plastic food wrap. Ask your child to find a googly eye, a hat etc and enjoy a spooktacular mess-free sensory play!
